Applicants for interviews to take place in 2026
If you plan to submit an ERAS application at the end of 2025 in order to interview in 2026, you should regularly return to this page for updates.
We returned to our traditional in-person format last year. Our interviews consist of a dinner Tuesday night where applicants can meet residents and faculty in an informal environment, followed by attendance of our Wednesday morning conference, then interviews and tours of the facility ending in the early afternoon.
The Thoracic Surgery Directors Association voted to adopt the "signals" application feature for traditional track programs starting this year. The decision to use a universal offer date was left up to individual programs. We will not delay our usual interview process, and will begin extending invitations by the first week of December, so it would be prudent to have your application complete by the beginning of the ERAS program review opportunity date of December 3, 2025, at 9am ET if at all possible. Our interviews are typically in February, occasionally extending into the first week of March.

submission of Procedure Videos
To supplement the interview, we would like to offer applicants we invite to interview the opportunity to submit digital format video of procedures they have performed (with all appropriate permissions), or of performance of a simulated graft to graft anastomosis. A URL link to such video can be sent to us, once the applicant has been invited for an interview.
OUR INTERVIEW TIME FRAME AND FORMAT
Our interview season for applicants submitting their ERAS information beginning December 2025 (Residency start date 2027) will begin February 2026. Applicants invited to interview will have the opportunity to speak to our faculty and residents socially the evening before formal interview conducted Wednesday mornings through early afternoon. On Wednesdays, after a brief orientation at 630am Central Time, candidates will attend our Wednesday Morning conference from 7am to 8am, followed by interviews with our faculty, and the opportunity to speak with our residents during breaks.
